A MAJOR moor fire in the county has been closed as an incident, fire chiefs have confirmed.
Fire crews remained at the scene on Marsden Moor in Kirklees overnight and crews from Holmfirth and Slaithwaite will run checks on the Moors today.
The fire is suspected to have been started by people, near Black Moss Reservoir and Mount Road, at around 7pm on Sunday.
West Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service (WYFRS) tweeted: “Thank you to residents for their patience & partners, agencies & groups for their hard work #BeMoorAware.”

West Yorkshire Police announced it is to carry out a full investigation into the cause of the fire on Marsden Moor that has raged since Sunday.
Earlier this week, WYFRS declared the blaze as a major incident.
Kirklees CID will be leading the investigation into the fire, which will be carried out in conjunction with the council’s investigation into a breach of the Public Space Protection Order.
Crews from the Bradford district, including Odsal, Shipley, Cleckheaton and Keighley, attended the fire earlier this week.
However, the police are liaising with Kirklees Council about a possible breach of the Public Space Protection Order (PSPO), which bans the use of fires or barbecues in the area.
