A NUMBER of floral tributes have been placed at the scene in Duckworth Lane where 19-year-old Mujahid Hussain was fatally stabbed last Thursday.

The teenager, from Undercliffe, died in hospital from a single knife wound in the early hours of Friday after being stabbed during a large fracas in Duckworth Lane late on Thursday.

The large street fight drew condemnation from local community leaders and an outpouring grief that Mujahid's young life had been cut short in a knife attack.

Large numbers of flowers and messages could be seen at the scene today after mourners visited the busy street over the weekend to leave tributes to Mr Hussain.

Bradford Telegraph and Argus:

One message left on a bouquet at the scene read: "RIEP Muj, you was [sic] a beautiful, caring young man taken too soon, you will be sadly missed."

As mourners left their tributes over the weekend, police were arresting two men aged 18 and 20 on suspicion of murder in connection with the incident, following the arrests of a 17-year-old boy and a man aged 20 on Friday for violent disorder.

Local leaders were also speaking out condemning the incident. Prominent Imam Muhammad Asim Hussain condemned the incident, calling the yobs who were fighting and smashing cars in Duckworth Lane "bums in the street" and "cowards".

Bradford Telegraph and Argus:

Bradford West MP Naz Shah also lambasted those responsible for the "shocking and horrifying" disorder, calling their actions "shameful, senseless and lawless" and "was against the very foundations and tenets" of the Islamic faith and the holy month of Ramadan.

Police enquiries in to the incident are ongoing, and anyone who can help is asked to contact the police by calling 101, or using the contact options on the West Yorkshire Police website, quoting log number 14 of April 23.
