GARGRAVE Co-op is set to close for a month on Sunday for a refurbishment costing more than half a million pounds.
The company says it is investing £580,000 to refurbish and enhance the store in order to 'better serve the community'.
The store will close at 4pm on Sunday and is due to re-open on Thursday, May 27.
A temporary pop-up shop at the High Street site will continue to serve the community with a range of everyday essentials throughout the works, says the company.
The new store will run on 100 per cent renewable electricity and, is currently recruiting for new employees to join the team and add to the 12 local jobs that the store already supports.
Rachel Hall, Co-op area manager, said: “We are delighted to have the opportunity to carry out significant improvements to enhance our Gargrave store and better serve the community.
"We would like to thank the community for its patience during the works, and we look forward to welcoming customers old and new next month when we relaunch with a great new-look. We are working to develop the range, choice and products locally that will create a really compelling offer to serve the community.
“Co-op is committed to connecting communities and making a difference locally, and we would also want customers to know that they can become a member of the Co-op. In addition to unlocking additional value and personalised offers, our members make a difference to local causes."
