WEST Yorkshire Police is looking to “establish the circumstances” surrounding a picture that appeared to show that a PCSO had gone on a day trip hiking with seven other people.

The PCSO (914), who did not have their name on their Twitter profile but is an Neighbourhood Policing Team (NPT) officer covering Bowling and Barkerend, shared a tweet on April 14 about a hill climb she had undertaken.

The tweet – which received 19 likes and two replies – said: “Rest day well spent. Walking with the work family. I’m stiff as a board now.”

It included the hashtag “Simon’s Seat”, which indicated the group had climbed to the popular summit of Barden Fell, in Wharfedale.

The tweet was accompanied by a collage of pictures, including: a screenshot of the Strava record for the walk, a picture of the PCSO, another one of the group together at the summit and a photo of a pint of Amstel.

The photo of the group shows eight people in total, including the PCSO.

Many of them appear to be within two metres of each other, with their hands close together on the plinth at the summit.

Government guidelines currently stipulate that people can meet up to six people from any number of households in an outdoor setting, but you must socially distance (keep two metres) from those who are not in your household or social bubble.

You can also meet in a group of any size from up to two households and each household can include an existing support bubble, if eligible.

A West Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “We are looking into this matter to establish the circumstances of what has taken place.”

The tweet has since disappeared and the PCSO’s account no longer exists.
