FIRE crews have been on the scene tackling a large building fire this morning in Halifax.
Six crews are on the scene, and have been since 7am, tackling the fire in Farrar Mill Lane, Salterhebbles.
Large plumes of smoke are coming up from the fire, and residents in the surrounding areas, in Salterhebbles, Siddal, and other nearby areas, to keep their windows and doors closed due to the blaze.
West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said more information on the fire will be provided shortly, but it is thought to have begun at a scrap metal yard.
The smoke can be seen for miles around as firefighters work hard to bring the fire under control.

West Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service has warned that smoke is now blowing towards Halifax town centre and urged people in the town centre and who live between there and Salterhebbles to keep their windows and doors closed.
The fire service also confirmed that the fire was at a scrap yard in Farrar Mill Lane.
