A CASUALTY was rushed to hospital with serious injuries last night after becoming trapped in a head-on crash.

West Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service was called to a serious road traffic collision on Huddersfield Road (A62) in Liversedge at 9.58pm yesterday.

It was just after the road's junction with Liversedge Hall Lane and involved two Volkswagen Golf cars.

Both cars were badly damaged and there was debris littered across the road.

Fire crews from Cleckheaton and Dewsbury went to the scene.

A spokesperson for Cleckheaton Fire Station said it looked to have been a head-on collision judging on the damage to the cars.

Two people had managed to escape their vehicle when crews arrived, but the person in the other Golf was trapped.

Firefighters had to rescue the individual and they were rushed to the Major Trauma Centre at Leeds General Infirmary (LGI) with serious injuries by ambulance.

Police are investigating the crash, according to the spokesperson from Cleckheaton Fire Station.
