A LOCKDOWN-defying hairdresser who refuses to wear a mask or PPE has hit out after she was visited by the Council.

A story shared on the Quinn Blakey Hairdressing Instagram said last night: "Had the Council back today telling me I'm ENDANGERING my client's lives (client who was also sat without a mask).

"The harassment is unreal."

In another video this morning, salon owner Sinead Quinn said: "Don't you think it's funny that when I was open in November, the police, Council came and their only issue was that I was open whilst in a lockdown.

"Never once said anything to me about masks, never brought me any masks, never brought me a visor, never brought me any Government guidance.

"Now we're open, and we're allowed to open, the police have been telling me I'm putting people's lives in danger, the Council have been, with masks, leaving them on the doorstep and that they'll be back."

After a large sigh, she added: "I just can't get a break."

Earlier this week, Ms Quinn appeared on the social media platform on the first day hair salons were officially allowed to reopen.

She said: "Morning guys, hope everything goes okay for everyone today.

"We are finally open and I've got a broken arm, yay."

But, she said she was without a face mask or any form of PPE.

The Government's guidance states that staff in hairdressers opening on April 12 must wear masks and visors, unless they are exempt.

The guidelines also state that customers will probably be asked to use hand sanitiser and will have to wear a face covering, unless they are exempt.

It seems a number of viewers of the initial Instagram story noticed the owner's lack of protective equipment, as she then uploaded another story four hours later responding.

The caption attached to the video said: "For people in my DMs asking about PPE".

The salon owner said: "No, I don't wear a mask, I don't wear any PPE.

"I don't wear a mask when I go out, in supermarkets, nothing.

"Because they don't work, do they?

"Otherwise we wouldn't be in lockdown every frigging few months."

Ms Quinn then said police had visited her because of her actions.

She said on the salon's Instagram story: "Day one done, visit from the police as well, 'we've had reports you're not wearing a mask, or any PPE'.

"No, I'm not, so you're going to come every day because I'm not wearing a mask?"

The hairdresser, a vocal critic of lockdown measures, has hit the headlines in recent months after racking up £17,000 in fines for breaching lockdown rules by opening her Oakenshaw hair salon last November.

She was then hit with £2,455 court costs at a hearing in February, when Kirklees Council was granted an injunction, in place until the end of March, stopping her from reopening her salon and allowing members of the public to enter.

Last month, Ms Quinn also shared footage of herself at an anti-lockdown march in London on her Instagram page.

In one video of herself, where large crowds could be seen in the background, she added a caption which said: “All these people fighting for your freedom.”

In another Instagram story, she said: “Amazing day, amazing turnout. Walking around London for 3 ½ hours for freedom. What will you tell your children when they ask if you fought for their freedom?”

But, it appears she came in for criticism, as on another story, she wrote: “You lot spamming my messages telling me I’m killing people by marching for freedom should warn the others on this train that I don’t wear a mask.”
