SKIPTON actor Michael Thompson who has had roles in the likes of Coronation Street and Harry Potter is filming a short film in the town this Saturday.

Sully Lad is Michael’s poem, taken from his book, Cavetown Baby and is a story of a friend that died and his interactions with figures of authority in his life.

“It is a tale of addiction. Sadly we hope it will show to others that recovery is not a path for all,” said Michael.

The two main roles are being carried out by Derek Lawson who has appeared in Coronation Street, Shameless, Cold Blood and Casualty, as well as featured in Day Zero, on Amazon prime, in theatre and short films.

He has recently worked with Joe McGann and Paul Barber in Car Pool Poker.

He is joined by Bradford poet Simon Pickles, who founded Spoken Worth.

Michael is narrating and reading sections of Sully Lad and is a stand-in and sound assistant as required.

He said he is also planning another short film from the book later in the year.
