DARCY, a Shire horse who was well known to resident of Bradford and who lived in the Bradford Industrial Museum with his friend, Murdoch, has passed away at Hillside Animal Sanctuary in Norfolk.
They were both a well-known site on the streets of Bradford in the summer pulling a cart and watering the Bradford's hanging baskets.
The two Clydesdale heavy horses also gave rides to a lot of people at the museum.
A person who was familiar with the horses said they were both well thought of locally but due to council cutbacks it was decided to retire them, a decision that was unpopular.
This person said that the day they left Bradford for the last time was very sad for the staff who looked after them.
They quickly settled in to more open spaces at Hillside in Norfolk and made new friends.
Some locals from Bradford visited them and could see they were enjoying a happy retirement.
