NORTHERN Gas Networks have apologised for any inconvenience caused by urgent repair works taking place in Bradford city centre on a day when many shops and businesses re-opened.
As many people flocked to the city centre this morning, urgent gas works at Hall Ings forced drivers to take a diversion to their destination.
However, Chris Green, operations manager at Northern Gas Networks, explained: “The ageing gas mains at Hall Ings have undergone several recent emergency repairs, so were prioritised for urgent replacement.
"The metal gas mains have now been replaced by more durable plastic pipes. This has been a complex major project, but it will ensure a safe and reliable supply of gas to customers in Bradford for many years to come.
“The works will be completed by Thursday afternoon and the road closure on Hall Ings will be removed.
"Drivers who are being affected by the works are advised to use the signposted diversion, and to allow extra time for their journeys whenever possible.
“We apologise for any inconvenience caused by the replacement works, and any customers who need more information can contact our Customer Care Team on 0800 040 7766 or at customercare@northerngas.co.uk”
