A MAN accused of murdering a Bradford taxi driver nearly 20 years ago was today brought to Bradford Crown Court for the first time for a conference with his barrister.

Ricardo Linton denies murdering Mohammed Basharat, 33, of Leylands Lane, Heaton, on October 20, 2001.

Linton, 45, of no fixed address, will be tried at Bradford Crown Court on June 21. The hearing is expected to last up to five weeks.

Today, he attended at the court from custody to speak with his barrister Rachel Darby.

The case was relisted for next Friday when Judge Jonathan Rose said the defence statement must be served.

Mr Basharat was killed at the offices of Little Horton Taxis, in Park Lane, Little Horton, Bradford.

In December, 2011, the Telegraph & Argus reported that the father of four died when he was shot twice in the head by a lone gunman who burst into the minicab office.
