A MAN has been arrested after a fight behind McDonald's left a man in hospital with serious head injuries.

The brawl erupted in the Whinney Hall Park area, behind the fast food restaurant in Brighouse, at around 4.30pm on Easter Monday (April 5).

Emergency services were called to the scene to reports of two men fighting.

They found a 41-year-old man, who had suffered serious head injuries.

He was rushed to hospital, but the injuries are not life-threatening.

Police arrested a 44-year-old man on suspicion of Section 18 GBH (grievous bodily harm) in connection with the assault.

The suspect remains in custody today.

Calderdale District CID has now launched an appeal in relation to the fight.

Officers would like to speak to anyone who saw the incident, or has any information that could assist with the investigation.
