AN APPEAL has gone out to find the owners of a wedding album found in the loft of a Bradford house.

The beige-coloured album, which contains photographs of a couple’s wedding and their reception afterwards, was found in the roof of a semi-detached home near Bolton Junction.

Tony Porrelli, who has lived in the street since 1968, was asked by the home owner whether he recognised the couple, or knew who had lived in the house beforehand.

“He told me that he had moved in and had been looking in his roof space when he came across the album," said Tony. "Unfortunately it has no names in it and there are no place names in any of the photographs. there is nothing to identify anyone at all.

"As I have lived here for a long time he asked me whether I knew the people in the photographs, but sadly I did not. He asked around but no-one recognised them.”

A relative of a previous resident of the house was traced, but did not know the people in the sepia-coloured pictures.

“There are around 25 photographs and from the clothing, they look like they were taken in the 1940s,” said Tony. The couple look to be aged in their forties - both are wearing smart suits, the bride’s fur-collared jacket topped off with a hat. She is carrying a bouquet of tulips. The groom is wearing round glasses and has a carnation in his buttonhole.

In one picture a child is giving what looks like a small posy to the bride.

The wedding has taken place in winter - there is snow on the ground - in a stone-built building which could be a church or civic building.

“I thought it may be a Methodist church,” said Tony. “I have been looking at churches and chapels in this area, but could not see anything resembling it. Also, it was so long ago the building could have been demolished.”

Tony is very keen to find out anything in relation to the couple, and hopes someone in the district recognises them. “I am interested in family history - I have looked into my own - and something like this album is a great thing to keep within a family.”

“The guests are all smartly dressed. There are pictures of them having a meal afterwards. It looks like quite an informal occasion, quite relaxed," said Tony.

"Another picture shows the couple signing the register and there is one of them cutting their wedding cake.”

Guests around the long, neatly laid table, where a roast dinner has been served, include a number of children, some of whose faces are clearly visible. The faces of a number of adult guests are also very clear, and may be related to, or known to, someone who lives in the Bradford district.

Another picture shows a guest dressed in uniform, with a medal ribbon displayed across his chest.

“Why the album was placed up in the roof is anyone’s guess. It would be really good to pass it on and reunite it with family members. I hope someone recognises somebody from these pictures.”
