FIREFIGHTERS rescued three trapped geese from a drainage area at Chellow Dene Reservoir on Monday morning.

The rescue took place at 9.30am when a crew from Fairweather Green Fire Station received a call from a concerned member of the public.

"The geese got stuck in a water run off drainage area at the bottom of Chellow Dene Reservoir," said Fairweather Green Fire Station watch commander Steven O'Keefe. "They must have fallen in.

"Our crew put life jackets on and climbed down to get them out. We then released back into the main reservoir."

Crew commander O'Keefe said the geese were not too distressed as crew members lifted them out.

He also said the three geese did not appear to be injured.
