BRADFORD Council has extended its "heartfelt sympathy" to the family and friends of a 14-year-old boy who died in an incident at Goit Stock waterfall earlier this week.
There was a huge emergency response in the area on Tuesday evening after reports that someone has entered the water.
The following morning, West Yorkshire Police confirmed that a 14-year-old boy had died, with no suspicious circumstances thought to be involved.
Bradford Council said it would "not be appropriate" to comment until the circumstances around the incident had been "fully established", but did offer its condolences.
A Bradford Council spokesperson said: “This tragic incident is the subject of a police investigation and it would not be appropriate to make any comment until the circumstances have been fully established, except to extend our heartfelt sympathy to all those affected by this dreadful event."
West Yorkshire Police are still appealing for witnesses to the incident to come forward and help with enquiries.
Police say that there was a group of males in the area who tried to help the boy, and are appealing for them in particular to come forward and assist.
