BRADFORD is the best place in Yorkshire and the Humber for starting a remote business, research has shown.

The study - undertaken by Dojo - ranks the city as the joint-18th best location in the UK for setting up a company from the comfort of your own home.

Bradford is the highest rated location in the whole of the region too, beating the next best, Wakefield, by seven places and Leeds by 12.

This is thanks in part to the city's broadband speeds (49MB) and low average monthly rent for a one-bed city apartment (£493.18).

These features and other factors, such as the average weekly pay for full-time workers, five-year start-up survival rate and the amount of post offices, were used to calculate a total index score.

Bradford's final score was 131, just 15 shy of making the top five.

Most impressive was the city's start-up survival rate (42.3 per cent), the number of post offices (951) and people's weekly disposable income (£417).
