LIDL has given an update on when one of its popular stores is due to re-open.

The Shelf branch, on Carr House Road, pictured above today, has been closed since January.

At the time, Lidl said "essential maintenance"  was being carried out and it was hoped the supermarket would be open in a few weeks.

Today, a spokesperson told the Telegraph & Argus: "We can confirm our store on Carr House Road, Shelf is due to reopen this summer following modernisation works to deliver even more of our high quality and affordable produce to the local community.

"Customers can continue to have access to the supermarket's fresh, quality and great value products at the store on Manchester Road, Bradford.

"The works will include the delivery of state of the art facilities to improve the overall efficiency of the store, including new heating and insulation as well as larger and more efficient refrigeration units.

"The modernisation will ensure the ability to continue to grow our offering for customers, especially within our fruit and vegetable range and will also allow us to introduce new and exciting products for the local community. The overall customer experience will also be enhanced through an updated car park and signage throughout the store."

Lidl’s Regional Head of Property, Nick Harvey, said: “We would like to thank the local community for their continued patience and understanding while we carry out these works.

"It is fantastic that we are able to deliver even more of our fresh quality and great value produce to residents, while also enhancing the overall experience in store. We look forward to welcoming everyone to our newly-refurbished store in due course.”
