A NEW application to build shops, an office and flats next to a prominent building has been submitted to Bradford Council.
Last year plans to build a mixed use building next to 134 Manningham Lane were refused by planning officers, who said the plans “failed to respond to positive patterns of development" on the street.
The empty site is next to a building dating back to 1890 that was once home to the Provident Industrial Society, and is now a shop.
Now a similar application has been submitted by Tariq Mahmood. As with the previous application, the plans are for three shops on the ground floor and lower ground floor, an office on one floor and two, two bedroom flats on the second floor, as well as five parking spaces.

However, the latest plan is for a building that looks more similar to the neighbouring building, with much less glazing to the front than the design that was refused last year.
The application says: "Every effort has been made in the design of this extension to match and complement the host
building and the other buildings in the surrounding area."
A decision on the application is expected next month.
