IT’S a big moment for football tonight, when England and Poland go head to head in the World Cup qualifying campaign.

And as Gareth Southgate’s Three Lions take on Paulo Sousa’s Polish team, there will be fans cheering on both sides in Bradford.

Getting into the spirit ahead of the game are Marta Bierkat and Joanna Szydlik, who run city centre street food outlet Takeway Getaway, on Upper Millergate.

Marta, who left her job as a school cook to open the diner/takeaway a year ago, is originally from Rybnik in southern Poland and Joanna comes from Walbrzych to the west.

Said Marta: "We're very disappointed Poland's star player, Robert Lewandowski is not playing through injury. It will be a difficult match for Poland but fingers crossed!"

Takeaway Getaway, a former T&A Trader of the Week, has paid tribute to other Polish sports starts in a photographic montage created by Bradford bus driver John Murphy, who was initially inspired by Jerzy Szczakiel, Poland’s first World Speedway Champion, who died in 2020. “The wall is dedicated to Jerzy and how much Speedway means in the native land of Bradford’s Polish population,” said John. “But for now, all eyes are on Poland’s football team!”
