THERE are times when watching Line of Duty that I feel like sticking my hand up, as I did at school, and crying: “I’m stuck!”

I’m still baffled by all the AC-12 acronyms - does anyone really know an OCG from an SFC, FME or SIO? - and when it comes to police ranks and roles, it’s all TFC, DCS, CSE and UCO to me. At least, thanks to the nice BBC continuity announcer, we now know what CHIS means...

If you’re not au fait (or should that be AF?) with all the acronyms Ted Hastings (CO of AC-12) and his crew throw at us, you might as well be watching it in Japanese. I struggle to keep up.

Then there’s the plot. In the words of Supt Hastings: ‘Houl yer whisht’.

Think I need to watch last week’s opening episode of the long-awaited new series again just to keep up...
