A BRADFORD primary school has supposedly had to remind parents not to send children with Covid-19 symptoms, after three bubbles were closed.

Two members of the public contacted the T&A to say three bubbles at Beckfoot Heaton Primary School (pictured) had to be closed in the final week of term.

It is believed the "Cherry", "Palm" and "Maple" classes were those affected.

An email, apparently sent to staff by Headteacher, Zoe Mawson, explained "Cherry" and "Palm" closed on Monday, while "Maple" closed on the Tuesday.

It also said the school would issue a reminder to parents not to send their children into the setting when they have symptoms, as this was the reason why the bubbles had to close.

The email, sent on Tuesday, stated: "Sorry we didn't email yesterday re the bubble closures.

"Cherry and Palm had to close yesterday and unfortunately we now need to close Maple.

"We are going to send a reminder to parents about not sending children in with symptoms as all of these bubble closures are because of this.

"Good to have Hawthorn back today though."

The T&A contacted the school for a comment.

The school responded with a statement from Mrs Mawson.

She said: "We are delighted to have seen our children back at Beckfoot Heaton Primary School and Nursery this half term for face-to-face learning.

"We are proud of how our community have supported each other during such challenging times.

"Availability of free home testing for all our families and the vaccination program are all positive progress in reducing the spread of the virus.

"We will always communicate to our staff and families if we need to close a bubble in school.

"We also communicate regularly with updates and reminders on the guidance and school procedures in line with our robust risk assessments.

"This all supports keeping our schools open for our children and face to face learning where they can spend important time with their friends and school staff, and continue to enjoy, learn and succeed." ‘
