POLICE have issued an appeal after a teenager was stabbed in the chest yesterday.

Yorkshire Ambulance Service (YAS) staff had to treat a 19-year-old man on Thursday afternoon, after he had received a stab wound to the chest.

It is believed the man was attacked by a male who left the scene in a car.

A neighbourhood policing team officer on patrol in Brudenell Road, near Hyde Park in Headingley, came across the scene at 5.48pm.

The man was taken to hospital for treatment and later discharged.

A police cordon was put in place on Brudenell Road while forensic examination was underway.

Detective Inspector James Entwistle, of Leeds District CID, said: “We are continuing to carry out enquiries to establish the circumstances surrounding this incident.

“The victim appears to have been attacked in the street by a male who left the scene in a car.

"We would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident or who has any information that could assist the investigation.”
