With scenic views and plenty of culture, it’s unsurprising that so many famous faces flock to West Yorkshire for an overnight stay or getaway.
From music legends to historic writers, a surprising amount of famous faces have made hotels in our region their temporary home.
Here are just four hotels in Bradford and other West Yorkshire areas that celebrity guests have stayed in:
Great Victoria Hotel, Bridge Street, Bradford

This Victorian style hotel is a landmark building in Bradford.
The 73-bed hotel on Bridge Street has five function rooms, a main bar and restaurant, as well as a luxury top-storey penthouse suite; a chic open-plan loft area with twin baths on a raised floor.
The hotel works closely with Bradford City of Film and is often used by by cast and crew of TV and films shooting in the district.
Dame Helen Mirren stayed there in 2020 while filming The Duke in Bradford.
Stars at local theatres are regulars, with recent guests including comedian Jack Dee.
Coronation Street and Emmerdale casts have also stayed there while filming at City Hall.
Midland Hotel, Cheapside, Bradford
There is a lot of history attached to Bradford’s Midland Hotel and it was once host to the rich and famous.
Comic duo Laurel and Hardy once stayed here and American bass baritone, Paul Roberson, also paid a visit.
Sir Henry Irving, a notable stage actor in the early 1900s, passed away at the hotel in 1905.
Actor, singer and comedian, George Formby, also stayed at the hotel in 1940 after performing at the Alhambra Theatre.
Almost every Prime Minister up to Harold Wilson also stayed at the hotel.
Sean Connery, Bram Stoker, JB Priestley, John Le Mesurier, Tom Courtney, Brian Cox, Michael Palin, Jean Simmons and Michael Brandon, are just some other notable names who stayed at the hotel.
Significantly, the hotel was also attended by musical legends The Beatles and The Rolling Stones.
Dakota Deluxe, Russell Street, Leeds

This hotel is in the heart of Leeds City Centre with an award-winning bar and grill.
It has 85 rooms in total all of which have a chic and stylish aesthetic
It has become somewhat of a celebrity hangout as plenty of big Hollywood have stayed here.
The Stone Roses, Katy Perry, Arnold Schwarzenegger and The Stereophonics have made this hotel their temporary home.
Holdsworth House Hotel, Holdsworth, Halifax

The Beatles also took a trip to this Halifax hotel on 9th October 1964 which was John Lennon’s 24th birthday.
Manager, Brian Epstein, also went with them.
According to the Holdsworth House Hotel website, the group arrived after a concert at the Gaumont Theatre in Bradford- the opening night of their only British tour.

John Lennon and Ringo Starr’s room has now been transformed into an office and Paul McCartney and George Harrison stayed in the Ayrton Room - now a private dining room.
While there, the band ordered turtle soup and steak tartare. The French Maitre d’ wrote their order on a piece of paper and referred to the band as ‘The Beetles’.
Jayne Mansfield, Cilla Black, Cliff Richards, Jamie Oliver and Victoria Wood are just some other famous faces who have visited in the past.
