FRONTLINE health care workers in Bradford gathered this dinnertime to join in a minute’s silence to remember the victims of Covid-19.

Staff at Bradford Royal Infirmary came together in the hospital’s car park to join in the country’s moment of reflection at midday, 12 months on from the beginning of the national lockdown to try and tackle the Covid-19 pandemic.

Since the pandemic began, more than 1,200 people in Bradford - one in 500 of the total population - have died from Covid-19, and nationally almost 150,000 people have died from the virus.

Bradford residents were asked to mark the silence privately, and are also being encouraged to take to their doorsteps at 8pm later today with a candle or light to remember those who have died.

Marie Curie was behind the moment of reflection initiative to remember those who have been affected by Covid.

City Hall will also be lit up tonight in memory of those who have died in the past 12 months due to Covid-19.
