A DRIVER had to be rescued and then rushed to hospital with serious injuries, after their car flipped onto its roof.

West Yorkshire Police was called to reports of a road traffic collision on Bradford Road (B6265), between Crossflatts and Keighley, by Yorkshire Ambulance Service (YAS) at 2.33pm.

The crash involved a single car, which had flipped onto its roof.

Three fire engines - one each from Keighley and Bingley, as well as the technical rescue unit from Cleckheaton - all rushed to the scene.

The driver of the vehicle was trapped and the fire crews had to extricate them.

The casualty was then taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Bradford Road was closed at 3pm, between its junction with Swine Lane and Mayfield Drive.

A West Yorkshire Police spokesperson said at 4.23pm that officers were still at the scene.

There was slow traffic in the area, as a result of the road closure.

It reopened fours later, at 7pm.

A photo taken by Manni Peacock showed a police cordon in place earlier this afternoon, with at least four police vehicles and two fire engines at the scene.
