WORK is underway on a new apartment development close to Ilkley town centre on Kings Road.

The scheme is being developed by YorPlace and Square Feet – a development partnership that has created several other developments in the area. These include the transformation of the Grade I listed Burley House and conversion of The Malt Shovel, both in Burley in Wharfedale, and most recently the partnership created nine new homes at Deer Glade, Darley near Harrogate.

Known as Lime Garth, this latest development will offer ten, two and three bedroom apartments, including a pair of penthouses. The apartments will all have south facing terraces or large balconies. The homes will be marketed by estate agent, Dacre, Son & Hartley.

Dacres Land and Development team also negotiated the off-market sale of the 0.53 acre development site which is immediately adjacent to Heathcote, the beautiful Grade I listed mansion designed by renowned Arts and Crafts architect, Edwin Lutyens.

The apartments at Lime Garth offer between 1,044 sq ft and 1,884 sq ft of living space and the development is scheduled to complete in spring 2022. The homes will be released for sale in September 2021.

Patrick McCutcheon, head of residential at Dacre, Son & Hartley, said: “Lime Garth will be unlike anything Ilkley has seen before, offering a unique collection of modern and luxurious apartments that all combine very generous living space with a beautiful, high quality finish. The development is in a lovely location, in a quiet, leafy residential street, which is just a few minutes’ walk from The Grove.

“At just over half an acre, the site offered lots of development potential, but was previously occupied by a modest sized three-bedroom house and although it was attractive, it needed modernising. The house has now been demolished to make way for this development which will be of a density that is more suited to the size of the site as well as creating much needed new homes in Ilkley.”
