LOCKDOWN rules are set to change at the end of this month and the current social distancing measures are also set to be relaxed.

Some rules have already been relaxed and we are now allowed to meet one other person outside.

Currently, the Government’s message is ‘stay at home’ but this is set to be downgraded to ‘stay local’ on March 29th.

The rule of six will be reintroduced and certain outdoor sports facilities will also be able to go ahead.

This is all set to take place, provided the UK continues to meet the four main tests set out in the Prime Minister Boris Johnson's roadmap last month.

While the country isn’t opening up completely, it will mean that we have more things to do over Easter- and  just in time for the bank holiday weekend and Easter holidays for most schools across Bradford.

Here are five things the people of Bradford will be able to do over Easter and the bank holiday weekend:

Have a picnic in the park

Outdoor picnics were actually introduced on March 8 and coincided with the schools reopening.

However, the weather is slowly getting warmer and we can take the time to appreciate picnics during the Easter break.

If you are planning to have a picnic with the kids, or even your friends, over Easter there are some gorgeous places in Bradford to have one.

Lister Park is the number one rated park in Bradford.

One reviewer wrote: “It’s a great park with lots to do.

“There’s a reasonable playground, a lake and lots of different paths to explore around the park.

“The park is well maintained and the plant and flowers are well looked after.”

“It’s a nice place for a picnic in summer… a family favourite with us.”

Enjoy a walk with friends and a coffee

Walking has been our saviour in lockdown as it is one of the only things we have legally been allowed to leave the house for.

As of March 8, you can meet one other person outside of your home for recreation.

This means you can try out some new walking routes together.

While it might not be the most ideal coffee catch up, you can also grab a coffee for the journey.

If you have exhausted all local walking routes, we have compiled a list of some of the best ones in the area.

When asked where the best place to walk through in Autumn is, the Rambler’s Bradford Group representiative had one clear answer- Judy Woods.

They said: “There are loads of walking routes in the woods and the colours on the trees are just beautiful.

“It’s also serene and tranquil.”

One route can be found on the Bradford.Gov website and it can be completed in around an hour.

The trail starts at Park Bottom and takes you past Royds Hall Farm.

Enjoy a barbeque at a friend’s house

From March 29, you will be able to meet up with up to six people outside- including in private gardens.

This means there is potential to meet up with friends in small groups- and maybe even enjoy some food or drink together.

However, social distancing rules will still be in place meaning we won’t be able to hug our loved ones just yet.

Play a game of golf

England’s golf courses are currently set to open on March 29th, subject to coronavirus infection rates.

It doesn’t matter if you are an avid golfer, or if you don’t know the first thing about pars and drivers, golf could be a unique activity to try when restrictions lift.

According to TripAdvisor, Northcliffe Golf Club, Shipley is one of the best rated in Bradford.

Northcliffe Golf Club was founded in 1921 by a small group of golfing enthusiasts.

Since then, it has evolved into a vast 18-hole golf course set in 100 acres of parkland.

Golfing memberships range from £33-£2000, depending on the type of membership to plump for.

Green fees for visitors range from £20-£45 between May and September.

Try your hand at tennis

From March 29, outdoor sports facilities can reopen. This means the long-awaited return of golf, football, tennis, and basketball.

Even if you haven’t played it before now is the time to try it out with a friend.

There are plenty of outdoor tennis courts to choose from in Bradford, including ones at Lister Park, Bowling Park and Bradford Moor Park to name a few.
