A BRADFORD singer-songwriter is set to have his music showcased in the new series of a popular TV drama.

David 'Nova' Nowakowski, of Bradford band Scars on 45, has composed five tracks for the new series of BBC One drama The Syndicate.

The six-part series, written by Kay Mellor, follow the fortunes of a group of lottery winners and is set between Monaco and Yorkshire.

This series, which filmed in Ben Rhydding and Burley-in-Wharfedale last year with local actors among the cast, is a brand-new story about a syndicate of kennel workers who think they’ve won the lottery, but all is not as it seems and before they know it, our youngsters find themselves in the wealthy French Riviera and well out of their depth.

The shows's cast is headed by Neil Morrissey, Emmerdale’s Gaynor Faye, former Coronation Street actress Kym Marsh, YouTuber and 2018 Strictly Come Dancing finalist Joe Sugg and Emily Head from The Inbetweeners.

Mr Nowakowski's musical contribution to the show includes its theme tune.

He also co-wrote 'Fautlines' with fellow musician Andy Ruddy which features in the last episode.

Despite being based in Denver, Colorado in the USA during the pandemic, Mr Nowakowski has also been working alongside Kay Mellor on the show's music.

Nova said: "I’m also very excited to have been asked to compose the theme song for the show

"Kay Mellor is so renowned in the TV world with everything she’s created, it doesn’t surprise me how successful the show has been which is now on series four.

It’s such a privilege to be working alongside Kay and her team, and the opportunity to have my music on such a popular TV series is amazing

"All of this was done remotely from Denver."

It is the latest link the series has had to Bradford, both on and off screen.
