A VACANT industrial warehouse can be used by a wider variety of businesses after a new planning application was approved.

Unit 3 on Commondale Way, at the Euroway Industrial Estate, was last used by Minster Insulation, but is currently unoccupied.

Keystone Developments recently submitted an application to refurbish the building, create a larger HGV parking area for the unit, and be marketed for uses other than storage and distribution - uses such as office and light industrial.

It was hoped a more flexible use would attract a new business to the unit - on the doorstep of the M606.

Planning officers said allowing a wider variety of uses would not harm the vitality of the industrial estate - which is home to some of the District's biggest employers.

Keighley site, new home to one of the town's biggest employers, is sold for £4.1 million

They said: "The locality is predominantly light industrial, with most warehouses having associated offices located within them, or adjacent to the main warehouse space.

"Given this, the use proposed here is considered to be acceptable, and will not cause any harm to the amenity of adjacent properties in any way."

Keystone Developments had submitted a second application for a vacant patch of neighbouring land. That application is to build a new industrial unit and HGV parking area.

A decision on that application has yet to be made.
