A BRADFORD doctor urged everyone to have the Covid vaccine when they are invited after reports it causes blood clots were dismissed.

Dr Amir Khan called on everyone to do their bit after the head of the European Medicines Agency said there is “no indication” that AstraZeneca’s coronavirus vaccine is the cause of blood clots reported in some recipients.

The reported clots have prompted several major European countries to suspend use of the vaccine.

Emer Cooke said on Tuesday that the EMA is “firmly convinced” that the benefits of the AstraZeneca jab outweigh the risks, but a “very rigorous analysis” is ongoing.

Speaking on today’s ITV Lorraine programme, Dr Khan said: “If you're sitting at home watching this and you get that call, please do go for your vaccine.

“There are no links with the vaccine to blood clots.”
