A BRADFORD based logistics firm is encouraging more people to consider a career in the industry following a record year for haulage.

Driver Hire, based off Canal Road, is appealing for more drivers as demand for haulage and deliveries increases across the UK.

The Covid-19 pandemic led to an increased reliance on deliveries and the impact of Brexit has also led to a need for more drivers in Britain, and Driver Hire is asking young people to consider a career in the industry.

Positives of the job include a competitive salary, up to £60,000 and averaging between £22,000 and £40,000, and the opportunity to do more training and different work patterns to improve pay.

The training and qualifications available also offer transferable skills if drivers want to move into different roles around the world, and the lack of need for university education also allows those who were not best suited to formal education the opportunity to develop and work their way up the ladder.

Driver Hire said that the nature of the role also means “employers tend to look for skills, mindset and experience as opposed to specific qualifications”.

It adds that the nature of the industry allows flexibility in where people can work, both in the UK and around the world, offering the opportunity to travel for work in many different countries.

The firm adds: “There will always be a demand for trading, meaning careers in logistics and supply chains will continue to thrive.

“The movement of goods is essential to every industry, from retail and finance to healthcare and even within government.

“Even within times of economic struggle, the logistics and supply chain industry has continued to prosper and, with ever growing demands and new technology, there is no sign of this slowing down.

“For those with drive and passion, logistics can provide for an engaging and rewarding career with great opportunity to learn and progress.

“The trade and logistics industry is a rapidly evolving sector, so there is no doubt that now is a great time to get started.”
