THESE are the areas of the Bradford district with the best and worst Covid-19 infection rates in the latest figures.

The infection rate reflects how many people in an area are currently infected with the virus, and is a signifier of how much it is spreading locally.

Some areas of Bradford are doing a great job of controlling infection to rid themselves of Covid-19, while others are still struggling to bring infections down despite being in lockdown for more than two months.

The Bradford district's current infection rate is 142.5 infections per 100,000 people in the seven days to March 7, the most up to date official Government figures.

This is down 9.5 per cent from the week before, and more than half the peak rate in 2021 so far (297.7 on January 24).

However, the figure is still the highest in West Yorkshire and is way above the UK national average, which currently stands at 59.4 infections per 100,000 people.

Almost every area in Bradford's infection rate is above the national average, which shows how far the district has to go to get its Covid rates down.

Below are the areas with the highest and lowest Covid-19 infection rates in the district, broken down by Middle Super Output Area, a hyper-local method of measuring statistics by areas with a population of around 7,200 people.

The five areas with the highest Covid infection rates are:

  1.  Heaton Highgate - 367.1 infectons per 100,000 people
  2.  Manningham & Lister Park - 362.9
  3.  Great Horton & Brackenhill - 336.8
  4.  Brown Royd - 288.7
  5.  Holme Top - 258.3

These are the five areas with the lowest Covid infection rates:

  1.  Ravenscliffe - 42.8
  2.  Bingley Town - 45
  3.  Oakworth & Laycock - 47.4
  4.  Holme Wood - 48.7
  5.  Cullingworth & Denholme - 54.5

The areas of Addingham & Ilkley Moor, Burley-in-Wharfedale, Ilkley & Ben Rhydding and Thackley & Esholt all reported fewer than three cases in the seven days to March 7, so their figures are not released to protect the identities of patients. These areas are likely to have among the lowest rates in the district.
