POLICE have issued an appeal after three young adults were rushed to hospital following a crash which caused multiple car fires.

West Yorkshire Police was called at around 4.50pm yesterday afternoon to reports of a collision on Hob Cote Lane, where it becomes Denby Hill Road, near Oakworth in Keighley.

Three vehicles were involved, with two of them bursting into flames, as a result of the smash.

A West Yorkshire Police spokesperson said a silver and a black Volkswagen Golf collided with a grey Ford Finesse.

Three people in their 20s escaped from their vehicles prior to the arrival of fire crews from Keighley, Bingley and Illingworth.

A 20-year-old woman was rushed to hospital by ambulance with serious injuries, but her condition is not believed to be life-threatening.

The other drivers - both male and in their 20s - suffered minor injuries and were taken to hospital for medical treatment.

The fire crews used one breathing apparatus and one hose reel to extinguish the car fires and make the area safe.

Police are now appealing for witnesses and in particular to a driver of a Ford Transit van that was believed to be in the area at the time.
