THE number of patients with Covid-19 in our hospitals is falling, latest figures show.

Hospital trusts in West Yorkshire and Harrogate collectively release the information at 2pm every Thursday to provide an overview of the current position within the regional and local NHS.

There is currently a combined total of 286 patients who have tested positive for Covid-19 receiving care in hospitals across West Yorkshire and Harrogate, with 49 patients requiring intensive care.

That's a drop from 416 last Thursday (March 4), when 72 patients required intensive care.

One month ago (February 11) the figure stood at 702, with 85 patients needing intensive care.

On February 11, there was a combined total of 124 patients with Covid-19 at Airedale and Bradford Teaching Hospitals. Today, that figure stands at 52.

Here are today's figures. The number in brackets is the figure for March 4.

Airedale NHS Foundation Trust  - 7 (7)

Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust - 45 (64)

Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust - 39 (54)

Harrogate and District NHS Foundation Trust - 17 (42)

The Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust - 95 (138)

The Mid Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust - 83 (111)

The West  Yorkshire and Harrogate Health and Care Partnership said: "Whilst the number of Covid-19 patients admitted to our hospitals is slowly decreasing, it is still extremely important that people across West Yorkshire and Harrogate keep themselves safe by washing their hands, wearing masks, social-distancing, and adhering to national Government guidance.

"It is only by doing this that we can make sure our local NHS can provide urgent and emergency care for all those who need it.

"If you are in a priority group eligible for vaccination, you will be contacted to book an appointment.

"The vaccine rollout means that gradually more people are becoming protected from becoming seriously ill with Covid-19. However, it is important that people continue to adhere to national Government guidance after receiving their vaccination to help prevent spreading Covid-19 to others."
