WORK to make improvements at Greengates junction continues to progress, including the expansion of car parking in a nearby retail park.
In the last two weeks, Howard Civil Engineering, which is carrying out the works, have made a start on the paving and hard landscaping within the Farmfoods car park.
Further down New Line Road, the firm has completed adaptations to the New Line retail park and are increasing the capacity of the car park.
In the retail park, they will demolish the end unit (previously a fast food restaurant) to create additional parking and facilitate the relocation of the bin store.
Work to form the new road in the P-Loop area has continued, but the engineering firm has ceased the installation of kerbing due to a shortage of materials owing to a decrease in the production of concrete-based materials during the Covid-19 pandemic.
They say every effort is being made to overcome and work towards the installation of the tarmac surfacing.
They also say that once they have obtained the relevant materials, they will continue the formation of the new road in the P-Loop area.
