POLICE chases through the streets of Bradford have become a staple of TV show Police Interceptors over the years.

The popular Channel 5 show is back on our screens tomorrow night at 8pm with new jaw dropping car chases and shocking scenes.

To whet your appetite for the new series, here is a look back at five chases filmed for the show in the Bradford district:

Boy, 12, at the wheel

A 12-year-old boy crashed his mum's car on a major Bradford road in one shocking scene from the show.

Police officers tried to track down a car being driven erratically around the city.

Dramatic footage showed the car flying across one roundabout - and nearly losing it on another - in the West Bowling area before flying through a red light on Manchester Road at its junction with Mill Lane.

The car barrelled across the road towards blocks of flats on the opposite side - taking a chunk out of one tree and crunching into a second - writing it off.

Then officers found out the boy and his female passenger were both aged just 12.

And officers made a startling discovery - the driver and his female passenger were just 12-years-old.

Both were convicted of aggravated vehicle taking and driving without a licence or insurance. The episode was broadcast in May last year.

They were ordered to work with youth offending teams and received a 12-month driving ban.

70mph chase through Bradford city centre

Bradford police officers Chris Spencer and Kev Shaw are featured in the high-tech video of their journey from Great Horton Road to Hockney Road in Girlington in May 2019.

The officers, who appear on the Channel 5 show, get a call about a driver that has failed to stop for police. They turn the car, a Volkswagen Golf, around on Great Horton Road, put on the sirens and head for the city centre, passing the Alhambra Theatre.

They then join another police car and head along City Road and Thornton Road at speeds of up to 70mph, before trapping the suspect vehicle in an industrial estate and dragging the driver to the floor.

Stinger in Shipley

Police used a stinger device to stop a car that failed to pull over for officers.

The Toyota was seen travelling ‘at speed’ in the Nab Wood area of Shipley, but the driver refused to stop for police.

After a pursuit, the vehicle was eventually stopped near Bradford Royal Infirmary.

A foot chase then took place, police have revealed.

A person has been arrested on suspicion of driving while disqualified, failing to stop for police and dangerous driving

Camera crews from Police Interceptors were at the scene in September 2018.

Vintage car chase

The show also featured police chasing a 51-year-old stolen Morris Minor in Fagley.

The dash cam footage showed the vintage car weaving in and out of traffic, just about missing crashing into a car in November 2018.

The Morris Minor failed to stop for officers in Fagley Road, as it drove towards Bradford and was later found abandoned on land off Harrogate Road a short time later.

The car had been stolen from an address in Ravenscliffe earlier.

Bradford Telegraph and Argus:

13-year-old driver at 100mph

A 13-year-old boy who drove a stolen car at speeds of up to 100mph from Shipley was sentenced to 18 months’ youth detention.

Police used a Stinger to stop the car with police stunned to find the youngsters in the driver’s seat.

The youth was driving a Volkswagen Golf and on the day of the incident, in September 2018, the vehicle had been stolen in a burglary which took place in Shipley.

He was spotted by officers on patrol in Keighley and the incident was later shown on Police Interceptors.
