HOLLYWOOD stars, pop singers and TV celebrities appearing on The Great Celebrity Bake Off for Stand Up To Cancer are set to be scrutinised by a former contestant in her returning weekly Telegraph & Argus column.
Sandy Docherty, who appeared initially in the 2015 edition of the popular baking contest, will be giving her opinions on the show’s 2021 celebrity class every week on the T&A website.
Sandy Says, online each Wednesday from tomorrow, will see her become a third judge on the show, alongside Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith, as she reviews the previous night’s Channel 4 show.
Each of the five episodes will see a different set of celebrities baking and raising funds for Stand Up To Cancer, a joint national fundraising campaign from Cancer Research UK and Channel 4.
Each week’s group of star names will battle it out over three rounds – the Signature, the Technical and the Showstopper – in a bid to be crowned Star Baker. The series is set to feature a vast array of star names including comedian John Bishop, Little Mix’s Jade Thirlwall, TV presenter Stacey Dooley and YouTuber and musician KSI.
Singer Alexandra Burke, who officially opened Bradford’s The Broadway shopping centre in November 2015, will also take to the TV tent.
Hollywood will be represented by Star Wars actor Daisy Ridley and X-Men star James McIvoy.
Other celebrities donning the famous Bake Off apron are Paralympian Ade Adepitan, author and psychotherapist Philippa Perry, radio DJ Nick Grimshaw and comedian Rob Beckett.
TV star Anneka Rice, actor Reece Shearsmith, musician Dizzee Rascal, as well as singers Anne-Marie and Nadine Coyle, and comedian Katherine Ryan are also all on board.

The series will continue to follow government guidelines on social distancing and will be hosted by Matt Lucas
New T&A signing Sandy, the child protection and welfare officer at Titus Salt School in Baildon, says she cannot wait to give her opinions on the previous night’s edition each week.
In 2015 she had the opportunity to showcase their skills in front of millions of viewers when, out of 16,000 applications, she was successfully selected for the Bake Off series.
Viewers soon warmed to Sandy’s down-earth style during her four week stint on the show. She’d hoped to go further but bread week proved to be her nemesis.
Sandy said: “It’s got to be fun. It’s a novel way to raise money.
“One of them might be an amazing baker.
“It’s nice when they win by a fluke when they are the best of a bad bunch.
I think Alexandra Burke might be a kitchen queen. I’m not sure if Rob Beckett has the skills
“It’s always good to have a bit of Bake Off, it does just raise the spirits.
“Because they are in the public eye, they are usually up for it.
“This year we have three comedians, which is always good. When somebody is on it who is a singer, you are never sure of their level of fun.”
The Great British Bake Off returns tonight at 8pm on Channel 4.
