A BRADFORD boy, inspired by Sir Captain Tom Moore, is aiming to walk half a million steps in March to raise money for charity.

James Coates, of Idle, was inspired by others raising money to help people in need, particularly Captain Tom.

He decided to sign up to a challenge by Clic Sargent, the teenage cancer charity, which encouraged participants to walk 500,000 steps during March to raise awareness and sponsors to support the charity.

The step goal means that James needs to walk around 16,200 steps per day on average to meet the step goal, which the seven-year-old has been achieving using various ways.

This has included home workouts on youtube, long walks with his family, trips to the park and dancing around the living room.

His dad, Tony Coates, said: "We are incredibly proud of James and to date he has raised over £300 on his Just Giving page.

"The support he is receiving is fantastic and we want to spread the word and put some happy news out there at such a sad and strange time."
