SIR - Alan Bates’ letter of March 6 speaks volumes about the polarisation of British politics in recent years.
Everything is now reduced to a binary choice of with us or against us. Granted, the term “Little Englanders” is not the best choice of terminology, but the view that accuses anyone who questions government policy of hating the UK is frankly, ludicrous and insulting.
Many of us were dead against Brexit and were devastated with the decision to remove our country from the EU and all its advantages. We may not drape ourselves in Union Jacks and sing along to Rule Britannia, but that doesn’t mean that we don’t love our country.
All it means is that we dislike and mistrust the right wing nationalists who have seized control of it!
