THESE are the Bradford areas with the highest and lowest Covid-19 infection rates over the past week.

The overall infection rate in Bradford has fallen noticeably in recent days, after rising alarmingly about ten days ago.

The infection rate in the district currently stands at 149.7 infections per 100,000 people in the seven days to February 14, down from 212.3 the week before.

The national average in England is 74.4, so Bradford's rate is still more than double the national average and has some way to go to bring infections down to an acceptable level, but it is moving in the right direction.

While some areas are doing well at bringing infections down and have rates below the national average, there are still some areas with alarmingly high infection rates despite being in lockdown for two months.

Bringing infection rates down to a low level is crucial to ensure the vaccine rollout can continue to be a success, and so that there are no delays to the roadmap out of lockdown which begins with schools reopening on Monday.

Areas are broken down by Middle Super Output Areas, a hyper-local method of breaking down figures to areas with a population of 7,200 people.
