LOCKDOWN has seen a rise in the number of people stepping out for a walk.

People are taking to the streets in their locality, discovering ginnels and shortcuts that they had not previously known.

Walking regularly is one of the easiest ways to improve our mental health, as well as helping us to keep fit while we are confined to our homes.

With gyms across the country closed, a walk is a good way to blow away the cobwebs, with the benefits brought by fresh air as well as exercise.

Walking is a great way to reach the NHS recommended target of 30 minutes of activity, five times a week. Many people include a walk as part of their home workout.
