A WOMAN got behind the wheel of a car because she was late for an appointment, even though she had never taken a driving test before.
Officers from West Yorkshire Police's Roads Policing Unit (RPU) stopped a white Fiat 500 heading into Pontefract from Featherstone yesterday.
Police conducted checks and it turned out the female driver had no licence and had never even taken a driving test before.
She explained to police she was late for an appointment.
A West Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: "This female driver was late for an appointment and thought it would be alright to drive even though she has never taken a driving test."
The officers issued the woman with a traffic offence report and seized the vehicle.
