Hey's Athletic AFC in 1950
SIR - Your feature on photographs of local sports teams from the past on February 9 had one of Hey's Athletic AFC dated 1950 when the side had a 6-0 victory over Whetley Mills 'B' side.
J Hey's & Co. Ltd, Northbrook Brewery, was situated at Wilson Square, off Lumb Lane. Very little is known about the club which appears to have been short-lived. In October 1949 a Hey's Brewery side entered the Bradford District FA Cup and Hey's Athletic AFC joined the Bradford Amateur League in May 1950.
