COMMUNITY testers will be back out in the Bradford district from next Monday after the home visits were paused this week, the council has confirmed.

The voluntary testing teams visit different areas of the district every day distributing testing kit, but these have been paused all this week.

The visits can resume after Government said yesterday it will provide another batch of Covid home tests for Bradford after the district’s visits were paused.

Bradford Council wrote to the Secretary of State for Health Matt Hancock earlier this week following the decision to halt providing home testing (PCR) kits to Bradford district.

Today, a message on the council’s website read: “Home testing is due to re-start next week (week commencing February 22). Dates and locations are still to be confirmed.”

One council team will be distributing tests in one area while another will visit a second area to drive community engagement before a visiting to hand out tests later this week.

For areas such as the Bradford district that do not currently have a specific Covid-19 outbreak lateral flow testing is available for people without symptoms.

The Council has warned that some scammers are trying to operate offering fake tests at a charge, but people should only accept tests from its volunteers and they will always be free.

The volunteers will be wearing a purple volunteer vest, an ID badge on a blue lanyard, a face covering at all times, and will be travelling in a family saloon car with a Bradford Council parking permit and Bradford Council Community Work prominently displayed on the dashboard.
