A man is fighting for his life after a crash in West Yorkshire today.

Police are appealing for witnesses following a serious collision between two cars in the Fenay Bridge area of Huddersfield.

Roads Policing Officers would like to speak to anyone who saw or has footage of a collision on Penistone Road at about 1.37pm today involving a Chevrolet Captiva and a parked Renault Captur.

The incident occurred after the Chevrolet, which was travelling towards Kirkburton, collided with the Renault which was parked near roadworks.

The driver of the Chevrolet, a man in his 60s, was taken to hospital and is described as being in a life threatening condition.

Enquiries are ongoing and officers would in particular like to speak to the female driver of a white car which was travelling behind the Chevrolet just prior to the collision and who may have seen what occurred.

Anyone who can assist enquiries or who has dashcam footage of the collision is asked to contact PC Townsend at the Team 4 Roads Policing unit on 101 referencing police log 0791 of February 17.
