VOLUNTEERS in Bradford embarked on a mission to make families smile at the weekend with Valentine's themed food parcels.

Nadera Amini of Naf's Fitness and her team have been creating packages for hard-to-reach and vulnerable residents in Bradford throughout the pandemic, particularly refugees and migrants.

Inspired by the quote 'Love for all, hatred for none', volunteers put together a special menu to aid those who may need an emotional boost as well as a nutritional one.

The menu featured an array of dishes - from lamb curry, grilled chicken and Paratha stuffed with potato and herbs to cakes and rice pudding.

And when those in need came to collect their special Valentine's food packages, there was the extra surprise of roses and a small gift.

Bradford Telegraph and Argus:

Speaking to the Telegraph & Argus, Nadera said: "This is a difficult time for all of us and for our children. With personalised sandwiches and wraps, we wanted to share our message to put a smile onto people's faces and tell them that we care.

"We decorated our hub with balloons and glitter, fancy display, and gave out flowers. The families really loved it and took selfies of that, everyone had fun and smiled on the way out.

Bradford Telegraph and Argus:

"We served over 200 people and we actually had new communities coming to us - they were mostly Slovakian, Polish and Palestinians. They all enjoyed our signature sandwiches, homemade sweet desserts, kheer and Ghulab jamun and the children could choose any sweets they want - no limit!

"Most of them were so happy to receive flowers and gifts.

"We love and serve our community, especially refugees and migrants."
