MORE than 50 streets in Clayton are included in a 20mph zone launched this month.

Streets in the Clayton Lane area, including Druids Street, Cambridge Street, Oakleigh Street, Westhill Terrace, Arkwright Street, Oxford Street and Cranbrook Street are subject to the restrictions.

The scheme, which was put in place last Monday, comes as Bradford Council continues to roll out 20mph zones across the district.

During a consultation about the Clayton plans last year, 12 people supported the proposals and five objected to them.

Highways officers maintained that the measures would help to encourage safe driver behaviour and protect vulnerable road users. They also said that it would encourage more physical activity such as walking and cycling.
