THE operators of a quarry in Denholme have been given an extra decade to work, and then restore, the site.

Ten Yards Lane Quarry in Denholme is run by Birks Royd Stone, and is one of the major flagstone suppliers in the area. It’s previous planning permission includes a condition that all work at the quarry must be completed by November 5 2022, and that the site must be fully restored, and turned into a new green space, by November 2023.

Improvements planned for Doe Park Activity Centre in Denholme

Last year the company applied to Bradford Council to extend this deadline, allowing the 5.4 hectare site to be worked up until 2032, and for the company to have fully restored the site by 2033. The application said it was needed to “enable the operators a realistic timetable to work the remaining reserves.”

Bradford Council has now approved these amendments, meaning the company can work the site until November 5 2032.
