BRADFORD'S Peace Museum will host an online Show + Tell event as part of LGBTQ+ History Month - and is calling out for people in the city to bring something along.

At the live online event, the museum team will be sharing objects from The Peace Museum collection which tell the stories of those who have peacefully campaigned for LGBTQ rights and explore the impact the LGBTQ+ community has had on peacemaking.

Alongside this, the museum is inviting LGBTQ+ people in Bradford and their allies to get involved with show and tell objects they have, which tell an LGBTQ+ story. This could be anything from photos, event flyers, badges and souvenirs to letters, placards, banners - anything which helps tell a story.

The event is a safe space to talk about LGBTQ+ issues and there is no pressure to come with an object, viewers can simply listen along and enjoy too.

The events are supported by Bradford Council and Bradford 2025 UK City of Culture Bid.

Jack Lynch, from the museum, said: "The Peace Museum is all about spotlighting the often untold stories of people who have made the world a more peaceful place – and LGBTQ+ campaigning is at the heart of that in our Peace OUT project. After postponing some of our LGBTQ+ events in 2020, we’re looking forward to connecting with people online and can’t wait to see what people will bring."

Councillor Richard Dunbar, Bradford LGBTQ+ Champion said: “The thing I know about our community and the Bradford district is that we are extremely creative, resilient, radical and compassionate. Whilst we can’t meet in person these events are about bringing people together, providing some much needed entertainment and giving you some hope about the type of district we want to create."

The event will be held on Wednesday, February 17, from 6.30pm via Zoom.
