PROPOSALS to turn a Christian Science Church in Keighley back into a house have been approved.
The building, 204 Skipton Road, is in the Devonshire Park and Cliffe Castle Conservation area of the town, and was originally built as a large house.
The late 19th Century property has more recently been converted into a Christian Science church, with an extension built to the side and the building's original front door turned into a window.
A planning application was recently submitted by Ashrif Ali to change the building's use from a church to a dwelling.
The plan would also involve the restoration of the front door and changes to the extension - including the addition of a new roof.
Plan for new church in Bradford city centre is approved
The application has now been approved by Bradford Council, with planning officers saying the changes will improve the property.
Conservation officer Hannah Meekings said: "The use of the building as a dwelling would appear to be appropriate and compatible with the character of this part of the conservation area.
"The external alterations will enhance the appearance of the property.
"The restoration of the principle doorway is welcomed and will restore an important feature of the building."
